Lady Patriot by Ted Lange is a historical drama based on the true story of Mary Bowser, an African American spy who worked for the Union by infiltrating the Confederate White House as a servant for Jefferson Davis's wife, Varina Davis, with the help of her mistress, Elizabeth Van Lew. The play explores themes of espionage, prejudice, and patriotism through the perspectives of these three women during the Civil War, combining drama with Lange's signature comedic touch.
